2022.01.16 21:20 Liftandlose Infill builders in Edmonton

I know this has been asked a few times in the past, but I haven’t see or heard much chatter about a few builders I have been considering.
Has anyone has good or bad experience with Effect Infills, Canyon Springs or Berkshire? They are all seemingly smaller volume builders, but because of that its pretty difficult to get objective reviews that haven’t been filtered through their marketing.
Does anyone have any advice evaluating builders generally? It’s one thing to see a fully built house but hard to know how well the build holds up 5 or 10 years down the line.

2022.01.16 21:20 tbgmdhc278 I officially finished the Holy Trinity of JJ Abrams: Lost, Fringe, & Alias.

I watched Lost as it aired and have binged it like 23 times since. My absolute favorite show of all time.
I binged Fringe a few years ago - easily second place under Lost.
How I missed Alias all this time, I have no idea. I just finished watching it and am experiencing the same post-show depression feelings that I had after my first binge of Lost when it ended.
The Alias sub is somewhat dead compared to this one, but I wanted to see how other people who have watched the Abrams Trinity felt about all three.
I can definitely see where he got some of his ideas seen in Lost and Fringe. The idea of fate, faith vs. science, doubling/doppelgangers, etc.
And let’s not forget Terry O’Quinn! He was amazing in this show, and I totally see why he was the only person who didn’t have to audition for Lost - JJ Abrams wrote the part of Locke with him in mind.
How do you guys feel about all three and how they connect theme-wise?

2022.01.16 21:20 rilliam Techs will apply assets tags to missing or damaged assets

Does this shit piss anybody else off? Besides having to sort through a huge trough of all caps directives telling us to clock in on time and call five different people to check in, who all tell us to call somewhere else or fill out some other form we don't have and fax it and wear a mask bla bla bla, they can't even proof read their own shit. Who is writing the garbage that fills up the work order text?

2022.01.16 21:20 illicitschema This is a distraction

Hi, this post is a distraction. I just wanted to make sure everyone knows what distractions look like. The post above and below this one are also distractions.
It seems the world before the internet had fewer distractions in everyone's face, perhaps fewer addictions, too. Yet people managed to go about life and business. Today, people are trying to figure out how to navigate the distractions they deliberately put in front of them that are directly attached to their phones and the internet. It's somewhat like placing our garbage cans out in the middle of the road and wondering why cars keep hitting them.
We wonder why we aren't productive. The remedy is a simple but not so obvious solution.

2022.01.16 21:20 5zp1 I met the Soup Nazi in 2005

In early 2005, the actor Larry Thomas came to New Westminster, BC, in full Soup Nazi regalia and volunteered at a place called Green's Diner for a day, to raise money for Indian Ocean tsunami relief. The whole deal was set up just like the soup joint on Seinfeld. There was a long line up and staff handed out instructions for how to order before you got into the restaurant. When you got inside, you had to order just like on the show: place your order, hand them your money, and move to the side. If you didn't order properly, you got kicked out. (But they brought your soup out to you, of course, because it was all in good fun, for charity.)
I ordered just how I was supposed to, and he said to me: "Very gooood!" My boyfriend didn't get a lid, and when he asked for one, the entire staff, including The Soup Nazi himself, shouted "NO LID FOR YOU!!" The staff had a hard time delivering the lines forcefully and with a straight face, because it was all just so ridiculous, LOL.
When I was there, I spoke to the owner of the place, and asked him how this all came about. He said he's a Seinfeld fan, and just came up with the idea randomly, and emailed Larry Thomas to see if he was interested, having no expectation that he would say yes. And when they picked Larry up at the airport and drove him into town, apparently he was talking about how he didn't expect anybody to come, because the character was such a one-off on the show; he really didn't think anybody gave a crap about The Soup Nazi. He had no idea how popular his own character was!
It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Afterwards I found Larry Thomas's email on his resume online, and I emailed him to say thank you for coming down. And he graciously wrote back! Really nice guy!
I'm trying to find evidence of this event online, but all I can find are news reports of him doing the same thing in 2017 for wildfire relief at a place called Greens and Beans, also in New Westminster. I suspect the two establishments were/are related! (Green's Diner is no longer.) Their website does mention welcoming the Soup Nazi "on more than one occasion".
Just wanted to share my little anecdote! It was so long ago, that sometimes I forget it even happened.
