2021.10.24 21:04 1m2x5 THE WITCH: Part 1. Subversion (2018)

Watched: Oct. 23, 2021

The movie itself might not be realistic but it makes a lot of sense. Try to not focus on the flow of the story and its genre. The film might be purely fictional and speculative but its central theme screams to awakem us in certain aspects.
It tackles how someone can twist a story with their actions and words. And that anyone can turn into someone we don't know in a second. Remember that anyone can always do you wrong; the time you've spent won't matter once our emotions are no longer controllable. You are not an exception.

I highly praise Kim Dami's acting. The film won't be the same without her. I like how she's doing it without exerting too much effort. It's rare to conceive such skill. (Would prolly grab the chance if we can exchange lives hehe) Was shocked when she sang. dang.
Woo Shik's character suits him. Was devastated when he was killed, meh. Thought they will get along. I ship them pa naman ugh. - Hoping he'd reincarnate if there's a part 2.
Anyways, all of the cast did great.

You better get home. Godspeed. - Nobleman (Woo shik)
You better get home. God speed.

You don't have to put with your act. Come on now.
Come on now

She baited us. We didn't found her. She found us.

2021.10.24 21:04 pipertakespictures Bathroom smells like death when it rains and sometimes for no reason.

On occasion for no reason and when it rains really hard, one of our 3 bathrooms will smell like dead ass. It's got to be septic gas but it really does smell like death sometimes. We're on a septic tank.
Had a plumber reseal the toilet and it's still happening. It happens every 3-4 weeks. We turn the vent on and close the door and it clears within a day to just a few hours. It's the worst thing I've ever smelled. It's like the septic tank is farting up into this bathroom...
Anyone know what could be happening and how it might be fixed? Thank you!

Just needed to this post in this week! If you have posted something like on here I’d like to see you eat crow or I guess Raven.
This team is legit and obviously was well coached this week.
I am not saying he is the perfect coach but I’d say the turn around over the last 3 seasons has been impressive as hell.

2021.10.24 21:04 throwawaylessons103 I stopped using dating apps and started putting myself out there, and I thought my experience might inspire some of you:

26F, like many of you guys I've had very poor luck with dating, especially dating apps.
Over the past year, I've really begun to work on myself. I started working out, got into therapy, began a few side hustles for extra $, cut off a few bad friends. Everything independently with me has improved, but still I've had trouble with dating. Getting flaked on, ghosted, stood up, etc etc etc...
My therapist gave me "homework" a few weeks ago to go to a few new places a week, even if only for an hour or so, and strike up a conversation with people. Half of them could be people I'm physically attracted to, but half of them had to be people I wasn't.
Over the past few weeks, I've been doing just that. I started by going to places during their less busy hours, and not just on Fri/Sat night. I went to a few happy hours, an LGBT+ drag show (I'm bi), a karaoke bar, an open mic night comedy club, a workout class, etc.
I'm a very introverted person, so at first this was honestly a daunting task. I also definitely felt like people would perceive me as "the weird girl" going to some of these places alone. Still, I bit the bullet and tried it anyway.
And then I realized a few things:

I know the pushback will likely be that because I'm a woman, of course it's easier. And yes, I'd agree to an extent. But I also took pointers on being more charasmatic from one of my friends who is a bit older, chubby guy in his late 30s. I've watched him light up a room with his energy; this man and many others I know have no problem making connections by being very social and genuinely interested in everyone.
TLDR; This post isn't to say dating apps can't work for some, I realize they're very convienent and if you enjoy them, cool!
But if you're one of the people, like me, who felt like you've been wasting years of your life endlessly swiping and swiping and getting flake after flake after flake with not even as much as a date to show for it, maybe this post can inspire you to try another method.
I know we're living in an era where it seems connections can only be found online, but I promise you people are still out and about and the apps are not the only places you can search for love.
It might seem daunting initially, but I do believe it also builds a tougher skin and increases the quantity of connections you can make, which by pure statistics will increase your quality eventually.

2021.10.24 21:04 prophetjohn Moving to Westchester, talk to me about Scarsdale (as compared to river towns)

tl;dr — I want to give my kids the best education I can, but don't want them to turn into entitled jerks. I also want to optimize for commute time and walkability.
Hi there,
I'm moving to Westchester from Brooklyn1 with my two young kids (oldest starts K in Sept 22). Looking for an urban-ish vibe, good schools and short commutes into the city. Ideally in a more down-to-earth community with somewhat flat terrain. Though unfortunately, I think those last two might be mutually exclusive, which is the crux of my question.
There is a lot to like about Scarsdale — great commute to the city, flat enough that walking around is comfortable and kids can ride bikes and of course amazing schools. I also think I could afford a decent house in the more "affordable" sections of Scarsdale with a budget up to $1M or a little more. And in these "affordable" sections I think I could find people like me / my kids would go to an elementary school with kids they can relate to. But I'm worried about what they will encounter in middle and high school.
I grew up fairly poor / lower middle class in the midwest. And while I've obviously had some career success if I'm considering Scarsdale, I'm never going to fit in with the "summering in the Hamptons" crowd. I don't want my kids to feel immense pressure for conspicuous consumption behavior like expensive European vacations or designer bags or whatever. On the other hand, I think the academic environment could be still good for them. I know it's often referred to as a "pressure cooker", but parenting has to be an aspect of that. I don't care if they go to an Ivy (honestly, I'd prefer MIT/Stanford over Yale/Penn but I digress), but I want them to have the opportunity to achieve academically to the extent they're able and desire to. Basically I want to give them the best education I can while minimizing the risk that my kids turn into entitled douches or resent being the "poor" kids in school.
How accurate are my assumptions / interpretations? Would I be better off sticking to the river towns (Hastings/Dobbs), even if that means that walking / biking around the neighborhood (or to the train station) is much more difficult? Are they actually materially more chill or insulated from extravagant wealth than Scarsdale?
Thanks in advance, sorry for another "moving to Westchester" post.
1. Okay, technically I'm moving from Austin. When leaving Brooklyn it was a choice between moving to Westchester or trying Austin. We tried Austin for a couple years and it wasn't for us, so we're going with ole Bestchester. Which makes it harder to just visit these towns and answer my own questions.

2021.10.24 21:04 leefirwood Our first and only offer was accepted!

My wife and I got extremely lucky. We went house hunting with our agent for the first time yesterday, loved the very first house we saw, didn't like any of the others we later looked at, and made an offer on the first house. It was accepted that evening. We offered asking price plus the seller covering closing costs.
Is the market slowing down or did we get very lucky? The house is a move-in-ready 3 B2 BA mid-century ranch style on a .25 acre lot in Eugene, OR. We are now anxiously awaiting the inspection to see if it is all too good to be true.
